Walt Disney Records will be releasing the movie soundtrack on March 24, 2009.
The score was originally to be written by Oscar-nominated composer Alan Silvestri, and he penned a new song with Glen Ballard, "Butterfly Fly Away", which is sung in the film. However, he had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict with G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, which he was also signed to score. Stepping in was composer John Debney, who recorded his score with the Hollywood Studio Symphony at the Sony Scoring Stage.
Taylor Swift performs her new song "Dreamer" as a "woman in a bar", not playing herself. The song in included in the movie's soundtrack.
Steve Rushton wrote two songs and performs them at Lilly's birthday party on Santa Monica Pier, including his hit "Game Over".
Vitamin C was one of the co-writers on the song "Let's Get Crazy."
"Let's Do This" was originally recorded by country singer-songwriter Adam Tefteller and later re-recorded by Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana for the "Hannah Montana: The Movie" Soundtrack.
"Let's Do This" and "Let's Get Crazy" were the first singles to be relead as part, premiering as music videos as regular HM show concert videos.
Billy Ray's "Back To Tennessee" was released as a single and hit #59 in the Country US Charts, the song is also featured on his new album.
"The Climb" debuted at 48 on the US Country charts and 51 on US Pop, on March 2009. It was her first released to country music radio as a solo artist.
"Hoedown Throwdown," was released on March 10, 2009 as a Radio Disney Exclusive single on their iTunes page.
A deluxe edition of the album was first made available for pre-order on iTunes. It will include all 18 songs from the standard edition and 5 videos only available if pre-ordered on iTunes.
