Miley Cyrus covered Bob Dylan's "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go," and, people, do not laugh as I am completely serious when I muster all of my renown and critical authority (and put my rock-solid reputation as a SERIOUS MUSIC WRITER on the line here) to declare that Miley's cover should absolutely be taken seriously.
Miley's cover is part of the Bob Dylan compilation Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International, a four-disc collection that honors Amnesty International's 50th anniversary and pays tribute to Bob Dylan, featuring artists like Ke$ha (who covered "Don't Think Twice It's Alright"), Adele, Pete Townshend, The Airborne Toxic Event and more. (See, we knew Miley was a role model.)
The accompanying video, which was released today and features guitarist Johnzo West, is a muted, pensive affair that focuses far more on the song's sentiment than on Miley the headline-maker. It's the polar opposite of flashy Miley affairs like "Can't Be Tamed" or "Party In The USA." (If anything proves that Miley's growing up as a woman and as an artist, covering Dylan -- and doing it quite well -- is it.)
Old-school Bob Dylan fans are probably too busy completing the entire 33⅓ series on their first-gen Kindles or contemplating organic milk to read this, so I probably only have you, Miley fans, to convince that Miley's Dylan cover is worth several listens, and I probably don't have to. Miley covers "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" with all of the mournfulness and dusty sentiment that the classic Dylan song requires, pouring her heart into the track and giving the legend his due instead of simply covering the track and moving on. (It's hard to top the Shawn Colvin version, but Miley comes dangerously close.)
It takes not only guts but cojones the size of wrecking balls to cover Bob Dylan, and Miley rose to the occasion and not only proved that she's capable of genres beyond pop but that she thrives vocally in a folk/ country environment. I'm now waiting impatiently for that country album, Milers.

Miley Cyrus is known to put her music where her heart is. The starlet released the first single on Monday and it is for a charity close to her heart. The entertainer performs You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go, originally sung by Bob Dylan, for Amnesty International. The touching song definitely has Miley Cyrus’ style imprint and her fans just love it.
Part of the Chimes of Freedom album, it features a stellar and diverse group of artists across the generational and musical spectrum that come together for a single cause. For half a century, Amnesty International has worked to secure the human rights of persecuted and imprisoned individuals around the world.
Honoring Bob Dylan, music expresses the hope in the future of human conditions. The album, touching people who love music and the organization, has all types of music. From rock, rap, hip-hop to pop, folk, country, jazz and blues, it is all included to share the message of hope and change in the future.
Take a look at the video clip of Miley Cyrus’ portion of the album. With over 72 individual artists part of the project, her video single is the first to be released.

News: Miley Cyrus Takes Five Inches Off Her Hair

First a new puppy, and now, a new look. Miley Cyrus debuted a fresh new haircut Friday after lunching at Wokcano Restaurant in West Hollywood.
“Just got a hurrrr cut,” the singer Tweeted that day, later adding, “I didn’t do anything to crazy. But I did take 5 inches off!”
Though Cyrus hasn’t changed her hair’s long length in quite some time — her last major cut was in June of 2010 — she has played color chameleon over the years, going super dark (and then light again) in 2008. (She cut bangs that year, too.)
Her new do is definitely lower maintenance, and probably a nice change for the young star, but we want to know what you think. Tell us: Do you like Cyrus’s new haircut?

It's been two years since Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth started dating, but the love still burns brightly for the couple.
"Got Liam THE best bday pressie ever!" the singer shared on Twitter on Friday, when Hemsworth turned 22.
And on Tuesday, Cyrus spilled the beans on her surprise gift for her man: an adorable puppy named Ziggy.
Ziggy joins Cyrus's two other dogs, Lila and Floyd, and she's already getting along with her new pals. "She's an angel! She loves her bro and sis, too!" Cyrus wrote in a reply to friend Erin Lucas.
As for Lila, the poor pooch isn't feeling well. "She had to go to the vet today," Cyrus shared. "She was sicky."

Miley Cyrus Stuns at People's Choice Awards in Fashion-Forward Dress

Let's face it: Miley Cyrus isn't exactly known for her great sense of style.
But last night, the Hannah Montana star hit the People's Choice Awards red carpet with her boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, in a surprisingly chic and fashion-forward dress.
And she looked amazing!
Miley wore a fabulous white David Koma dress with a sexy—but not too sexy—plunging sheer panel in front. The skirt also had sheer paneling under the draped fabric, along with colorful futuristic embellishments.
Her look was capped off with red-hot pointy-toe stilettos, a silver Marchesa clutch and a soft, wavy side-swept hairdo.
This sophisticated and clean look is a far departure from Miley's more predictable styles, which are usually supersexy, boho or edgy rocker.
But the 19-year-old star's beauty came with the price of pain.
"I have a love/hate relationship w these shoes right now," Miles tweeted last night. "I think Id be in LESS pain if you chopped my toes off."
Spoken like a true fashionista. Well done, Miley!
